Pasha the Penguin

My Creation

I found another penguin pattern. This is Pasha the Penguin and the pattern is available free on line from a website called Knitty. He didn't take long to make and I enjoyed knitting him.

I didn't like the way the short row deceasing came out. It made the little fellow a bit lumpy and left holes (which I sewed up).

When I knitted the seond one (yellow trim) I knitted him on smaller needles (3mm) and it's better. This time the white stuffing did not show through the black knitted parts. I also did not use blanket stitch to sew him up, as I found it untidy, and showed the black stitches on the white. I used neat straight stitches instead. Also instead of leaving a small hole in one of the sides to stuff through, I stuffed him through a small hole in the base, where it doesn't show at all.

he is really good :) Dont know if you are already doing this, apologies if you are but thought I would mention it as it helped me with the hole problem - knit to end of short row, slip st, bring yarn to other side of work. Turn, slip st back, bring yarn back to correct side. You are wrapping the next st with the yarn and although you can see where the row ends it doesnt leave a hole.
