My Creation:
About these pieces:
+"Out of Your Pocket" was an editorial in The Hawk Eye (high school newspaper), in which there was a discussion about the high costs of advanced placement exams. Basically, in this quick little doodle drawing I did for the paper, you can see a student handing over a leg and an arm (based on the expression "paying an arm and a leg for" something) to an advanced placement (AP) exam administrator.
+"One Nation Under..." was another editorial piece, addressing how many US citizens feel it's "unethical" to "force" students to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in school, because of the phrase in it that says "one nation under God..." In this drawing you'll see students, all except one, "worshipping" anything but God.
+NEDAwareness Week exhibit: This is the fuzzy cameraphone photo of three of my eating disorder "art therapy" drawings, that were featured at an exhibit at an NY university during NEDAwareness Week (February 2009).
+"The Risk to Took to Blossom" was a piece I did especially for a good friend of mine- she had an art auction and bellydancing event to raise money for her documentary on adolescents in inpatient facilities for eating disorders/self-harm. My piece was auctioned off, and I was later told that the woman who bought it is currently looking for a place to hang it on her wall! :) VISIT STACY PERSHALL'S DOCUMENTARY WEBSITE HERE: HTTP://WWW.STACYPERSHALL.COM - Her book should be coming out in 2010-2011. :D Please help her cause by donating any amount via her website; she will even knit you a scarf (she's also very crafty!) if you donate 100$+ to the documentary! :)
