Dora the Explorer Sweater

My Creation

One of my son's (Jonathan) coworker has a little girl who is turning 3 this month. She loves Dora the Explorer but I couldn't find any sweater patterns with her on them. I searched the web and found some cross stitch and needlework charts and used them to duplicate stitch a pouch pocket for the sweater I knitted. The duplicate stitching took the longest! I added a sewn on Dora pin consisting of alphabet beads with separating pearls with an angel charm. Instead of having plain sleeves, I made the sweater look like a two piece and made the pink upper portion into cap sleeves. Dora's sweater is hand beaded.

The first pouch I knit the design in but didn't like the pouch as it was too big for the sweater (the design did not have one, I just decided to add it myself). Hating to waste all of that work, I think I will make her a little bag by knitting another side and sewing them together and adding a handle!

Oh this is just so fabulous. R - you're a genius. I've done that myself in the past for sweaters (using cross stitch patterns or putting pictures onto graph paper and using them.) Our older granddaughter is much into Dora the Explorer - any little girl would love it!! Jxx
