*sigh*
.
This has actually turned into a mini obsession of sorts.
.
Determining which yarns/threads match well together based on texture and color, what size to make the basket(s), etc... :)

This is turning out to be an ongoing basket project. :)
.
So far, in addition to the two I made for my kitchen counters, I've made 4 more using variations of this same pattern.
.
Each one is double-stranded with a variegated yarn I got from a friend. It's on a big cone and I don't know the fiber content or the origin of the yarn.
.
The colors are autumn-y and I've mixed it with a few different types of yarn.
.
One basket is double-stranded with cotton sage green thread.
.
One is double stranded with a heathered blue of unknown content/origin that I got from a friend's sister.
.
Two are mixed with natural-colored cotton string I got from the dollar store.
.
Each basket has it's own unique look and texture.
.
This unintended project is turning out to be very therapeutic.

Lots of nice shades here and lovely baskets as before. Do you only keep to small ones. Have you tried to make larger ones for a small trash basket for the bedroom or the bathroom. They could also be adapted to make handbags (purses), either open topped or with a draw string, lined with material or even waterproof material for a wash bag or for swimming things. What stitch do you use, is it treble or double treble and what size hook?

Thanks so much. :-) You know, I HAVE thought about making larger baskets like for trash and such but haven't yet. I believe these baskets were U.S. double crochet stitch but I can see where some rows are U.S. single crochet as well. The different yarns got different hook sizes, depending... You have really great ideas for pattern adaptations. :-)
