pink and pretty jewellery box

I've had this jewellery box for years, and thought it could do with jazzing up a bit!
all i did was, took off the hinges and handals, sanded the wood down. then i painted the box with ordinary acrylic paint, sanded the edges again to give a weathered look.
I then varnished the box and when the varnish was dry stuck on some pattened card. and then finally screwed back on the hinges and handals, simple!
