Entrelac jacket

My Creation

I made this for my mother-in-law for her birthday many years ago. I made it at a time when 'Dolman' sleeves were in fashion. My mother-in-law wore this only a few times and now (at the grand old age of 88) has lost too much weight to ever wear it again. I 're-claimed' it and after a little work on the sewing machine with it, I have reduced the big bulky sleeves to something more comfortable to wear. Anything I wear must be comfortable enough to accomodate my knitting needles under my arms!!!! The colours may not be fashionable, but who is going to see me in my living room in the evening? At least I will be warm!

I think this is lovely, very pretty and feminine. Fashion be damned... enjoy your lovely cardi!

Well done for re-claiming this lovely jacket. You put a lot of work into it originally, it's only right you should benefit from it now. Enjoy your cosy evenings knitting.

It looks amazingly clever to knit this - what a shame your mother- in- law didn't get more use out of it xx I'm glad you're able to reclaim it and alter it to make it right for you.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. You're right Bikerkit - fashion be damned! I never was in fashion with anything anyway! I prefer to be an individual!!!

This is lovely! I agree, never mind fashion, if something is as nice as this then its a joy to wear.

Lovely colours and good that it will get the wear it ought. I want to try entrelac----perhaps a scarf to see how it goes.
