Traditional Embroidery

My Creation

Here's an example how our real life can get entwined with our crafting. This embroidery is going to decorate a new traditional greek dancing costume. My dancing class teacher is very dedicated to spreading his love for the greek folk dances, and part of this is creating the appropriate costumes - and in Greece every little village has its own specific patterns for the garments (I call them costumes, but few decades ago thiese were the actual clothes that people used to wear in their every day life - and some more elaborate dresses for their festive occasions). Most of the women in my class share our teacher's feeling, and we did all the cross stitching needed for the shirts of this new patch of costumes (there is a rather big collection of various other costumes from all over the country). I'll be very proud to wear it when we have presentations...
