Think I'm getting addicted to french knitting now. Yet another hobby whoops.
Added a bead and brooch back

is the type of knitting we used to do at school using a wooden spool and wool. If it is you are making a great job of reviving something I used to do. they are lovely Fiona.

Yes eileen it probably is the thing you used to do with a wooden spool, my dad made me one out of an old cotton bobbin and nails when I was little but this time I bought a kit with one in.It was only £2.99 and i got a bit of thread with it too.

Thanks bkr babe and amyruth. My first knitting adventure was a kit in a cardboard basket with mini needles and coloured balls of wool when I was in the junior school. I made a very holey scarf which went in and out a lot as I kept dropping and gaining stitches. Then I moved onto french knitting.
