About me: I'm a teacher - Head of Music at a girls' school in London, also Gifted and Talented Co-ordinator. With another member of staff I run a Knitting and Crochet after school Club. I've also run 1 and 2 day courses in half term and holidays in card making, applique, patchwork, knitting and jewellery. We have an annual Autumn Fair, where I have my Rainbow Crafts stall, selling home-made frames, cards, jewellery, hair accessories, i-pod/phone cases etc. to raise money for our sister schools in Nigeria and Peru. I've been interested in making all sorts of things since I was little, coming from a long line of needlewomen. I like short and sweet projects I can finish in an evening or a weekend, so don't do jumpers! My mother, aunt, sister and I all make cards ( and my nieces aged 4 & 7 are starting, too!) and I can't remember the last time I bought one! I also love making preserves, and make my own marmalade, jam and chutney, and also fruit vodkas, for Christmas presents. My next new venture will be making soaps; I've bought the book, and the soap flakes and am raring to go! I play the violin and piano, and belong to a chamber choir. I play freelance violin with three orchestras, and love performing. I am a keen linguist and enjoy the challenge of learning new langauges. I speak French, Spanish and Polish, and have recently started studying Japanese. I love browsing E-Bay and charity shops for vintage fabrics and homeware, and visiting Craft Fairs for inspiration and keeping up to speed with new developments and products.. I'm married to Sean, an artist blacksmith, who works at a city farm, so also looks after the animals and vegetable crops. We both like to keep busy, and enjoy visits to concerts and galleries and days out in the countryside in our spare(!) time.
